Richard (Dick) Griggs Christensen/August 25, 1930 to June 11, 2015

Richard Griggs Christensen was
born August 25th, 1930 and passed
away peacefully June 11th, 2015.
Dick was born in Tacoma and
raised in Eatonville, Washington.
After graduating high school he attended
UPS. He married his high
school sweetheart Joan “Nancy”
Pravitz in October 1951. Shortly
after, he was deployed to Korea
where he served as a sergeant in
the U.S. Army. Dick owned and
operated Christensens Department
Store in Eatonville. He loved his
small town and was very active in
the local Lions Club.
Dick and Joan retired to Hawaii
in 1988 where they enjoyed the
island life with family and friends.
He always said this was his favorite
time in life. They later moved to
Indio, California but continued to
spend their summers in Eatonville.
Dick was preceded in death by
his wife, Joan Christensen, parents,
Nels and Harriet Christensen and
brothers, Neil, Don and Bill Christensen.
He is survived by a son, Rick
(Dana) Christensen, daughters, Jan
(Steve) Rose and Kay (Chris) Davis,
grandchildren Michelle (Michael)
Christensen, Justin (Sasi) Christensen,
Mark (Lindsay) Rose, Eric
Rose and Brett Harris, and greatgrandson
Liam Christensen.
The family asks that remembrances
be made to the Eatonville
Lions Club.
