Surrounded by his loving wife and three daughters, our wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and friend passed away from a short battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Monroe, Washington to William and Isobel Dean. After graduating from Shelton High School in 1951, he served in the United States Navy and then attended Western Washington University where he met his wife, Carole.
Jim’s career at TPU (Tacoma Public Utilities) spanned 30 years, starting as a hydro-electric utility worker and retiring as a project manager of Tacoma City Light’s Alder and LaGrande Dams.
Not ready to call it quits, he worked six more years for Grant County PUD at Wanapum Dam.
Jim had many interests throughout his life. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed encouraging and supporting his grandchildren through many sporting and academic events.
Jim is survived by Carole, his wife of 61 years, and their three daughters, Sue Doll (Dan), Nancy Thibault (Mike), and Jan Burgess (Jeff), as well as nine grandkids and ten great-grandkids, all of whom he loved very much.
Jim will be remembered as a true gentleman with a quick wit, a wonderful laugh, and a kind, humble heart.
We’ll miss you forever, Dad.
At Jim’s request, there will be no services.
Memorial donations can to Eatonville’s Relay For Life, P.O. Box 1078, Eatonville, WA 98328, or Eatonvilles Community Center’s Backpack Program.
